The teams are called to the marshaling area where they meet guides who will stay with them till they embark. Some teams do warm ups or practice their strokes and calls. At the Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival in 2008, the marshaling area was one of the more interesting places to people watch. I love shooting this event because the boats and team shirts are so colorful.
