Bas Relief Sculpture, Church of the Reformation Entryway

bas releif sculture, entryway, church of the reformation
This image shows the bas relief sculpted entryway of the Church of the Reformation in Washington DC. The figures are arranged in a proscenium arch around the main front doors of the church. The art depicts Jesus seated on a throne with two people kneeling in worship. The cap of the throne is the sun, overlaid with a cross and beams of light spread down in a generally triangular shape bounding the bas relief. The whole, both the exterior cladding of the church and the bas relief appear to be executed in white marble. Above is a decorative border with a botanical pattern separating the medieval coats of arms assigned to the disciples.
