Yellow and white Dutch iris. Dutch irises are bulbs much like daffodils, tulips or crocuses, and like the other bulbs an early bloomer. Dutch Irises are very different than bearded irises which grow from rhizomes. They share something of the same appearance in the bloom, but the Dutch iris has openings for the pistil on three sides, the bearded iris only one, but it opens many blossoms on its single spike, as with a gladiolus, instead of the single blossom of a Dutch iris.
