Pink Amaryllis with a white throat

Amaryllis

A pink amaryllis with a white throat. We visited the National Botanical Garden on the mall in Washington DC in January, 2010. They were having a show of flowering amaryllises. That seemed appropriate since so many people force amaryllis bulbs in order to have winter flowers for the table. I had never seen such a variety. In addition to the texture of the broad, rounded petals, you can see the pistil and stamen and even the texture of the pollen.
Shot with a Nikon D80 and a Micro Nikkor 55mm Macro AIS lens.
