A single blossom from a luscious, deep red amaryllis. We visited the National Botanical Garden on the mall in Washington DC in January, 2010. They were having a show of flowering amaryllises. That seemed appropriate since so many people force amaryllis bulbs in order to have winter flowers for the table. I had never seen such a variety. The particular amaryllis variety has very wide, rounded petals and a deep, rich red color.
