A slender petalled amaryllis, pale green with dark red stripes. We visited the National Botanical Garden on the mall in Washington DC in January, 2010. They were having a show of flowering amaryllises. That seemed appropriate since so many people force amaryllis bulbs in order to have winter flowers for the table. I had never seen such a variety. Among the kinds of amaryllis I had never seen before were slender petalled varieties, like this one, and some so thin as to be wispy. This one had pale green coloring with dark red predominating on the upper petals and striping the lower ones.
