B-17 Bomber

B-17 Bomber

A B-17G Flying Fortress bomber on display at the US Air Force Armaments Museum in Shalimar, Florida.
The B-17 was one of the most widely used bombers in the Second World War. More than 12,000 B-17s were produced and they dropped more than 640,000 tons of bombs in Europe. Flying Fortresses had a reputation of being able to sustain heavy damage and still fly.
First designed by Boeing in 1934, the B-17 is one of the most famous aircraft ever built.
This photo shows the area and one of the engines on the left wing (part of the other engine is also visible).
Shot with a Nikon D80 and a 50mm AIS lens.
