A B-17G Flying Fortress on display at the US Air Force Armaments Museum in Shalimar, Florida.
The B-17 was one of the most widely used bombers in the Second World War. More than 12,000 B-17s were produced and they dropped more than 640,000 tons of bombs in Europe. Flying Fortresses had a reputation of being able to sustain heavy damage and still fly.
First designed by Boeing in 1934, the B-17 is one of the most famous aircraft ever built.
This photo shows the nose and forward area and the two engines on the right wing.
