Andean Bear

This juvenile Andean or spectacled bear (tremarctos ornatus) peers over a grassy berm from its display at the National Zoo in Washington DC. This short faced bear is a native of South America where it lives in cloud forests. Its numbers are in rapid decline, mainly due to habitat loss.
Shot with a Nikon D80 and a 50mm AIS lens.
