A monarch butterfly inserts its proboscis into a blue ageratum flower

A monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) feeds on a blue ageratum(Ageratum houstonianum) by inserting its proboscis into the flower. The butterfly is seen in a macrophotography shot. The sun shines on the closed wings of the butterfly showing off its oranges and the white spots on the black bands.
Shot with a Nikon D80 and a 55mm AIS macro lens.
