Bird Lives Statue near 18th and Vine, Kansas City

Bird Lives statue near 18th and Vine, Kansas City. Had just read about Charlie “Bird” Parker in the jazz museum but I wanted outside before the family finished up. The display mentioned how all over the world, Bird Lives appeared as graffiti. The bronze of this statuary head has a very nice weather patina. A very emotive statue. This shot is from straight ahead.
Charlie Parker spent a great deal of his short time very close by to where the statue stands today in the heart of the old segregated enclave of Kansas City where round the clock clubs formed a hotbed of jazz creativity.
Shot with a Nikon D80 and an 18-55mm digital lens.
