Charlie Parker statue (Bird Lives) near 18th and Vine, Kansas City. I had some time to wander around the area around 18th and Vine in Kansas City. The bronze of this colossal head has a very nice weather patina. A very emotive statue. This shot of the Charlie Parker statue is taken from the left of the statue and ahead of it, and is angled from below.
Charlie Parker spent a great deal of his short time very close by to where the statue stands today in the heart of the old segregated enclave of Kansas City where round the clock clubs formed a hotbed of jazz creativity.
Shot with a Nikon D80 and an 18-55mm digital lens.
